‘Managing Non-Conformance and the Cost of Quality’ – Presented by Joel Deibler and Chad Yiengst, of Ledge, Inc.

The Costs of Poor Quality; Managing Nonconforming Material

Many organizations are mediocre at finding their mistakes, some just rely on their customers to tell them when they have errors.

Few truly excel at identifying issues, analyzing trends, doing root cause analysis, and putting in permanent corrections. We will discuss various methods to collect data, analyze trends, and take action to mitigate future recurrences. We will review the many obvious costs associated with making nonconforming material and dive into some of the hidden costs that too often get overlooked.

Chad will share best practices, and even some worst practices, from over five years of quality consulting with over a hundred organizations in many industries.

Chad Yiengst, Principal Consultant at Ledge Inc. and Co-founder of 80/20 Quality by CFA Solutions LLC: Chad Yiengst has over fifteen years of quality and manufacturing expertise including quality and production leadership roles in both the automotive and food industries. During the last five years as a consultant at Ledge Inc., Chad has helped manufacturers across a range of industries to improve their quality management systems. Having had direct responsibility for managing nonconforming material in current and past roles, Chad has assisted dozens of companies with developing and improving their nonconforming material management processes. During this time Chad and his colleagues at Ledge Inc. have identified a need for better tools to track and report nonconformances. In 2018, they developed and launched 80/20 Quality, a mobile/web-based application that allows organizations to manage and communicate non-conformances while improving analytics. Chad also serves as Treasurer for the Harrisburg Section of the ASQ.
